Baby bottle feeding is a very important part of the nutrition for infant. Whether before 6 months or after that, mostly every baby is given bottle feeding once or more.

The most recommended and the second best after breast milk is the Formula milk. Formula Manufacturers compose the nutrient structure of the formula milk keeping the breast milk as the standard.

0-6 months old baby: Baby bottle feeding if done should essentially be formula feeding only. The nutrient content of the cow’s, buffalo’s or goat’s milk is not appropriate for the baby. Their carbohydrate and protein source doesn’t go well with the baby’s sensitive system. Hence the baby formula feeding is the best if chosen not to breast feed.

6-12 months old baby: Baby bottle feeding after 6 months of the age of baby can be a combination of any kind of milk. Breast milk and formula milk feeding are still the feeding of the choice. Now the baby also starts eating other foods. Hence the dependence on the milk for the nutrition for baby reduces. The diet for infant should comprise of cereals, pulses, fruits, vegetables, milk and milk products introduced gradually one by one.

Baby bottle feeding tips:

Sterilize the bottle every time you feed your baby.
Throw away the milk left in the bottle of the baby since baby’s saliva may give rise to germs.
To avoid air swallowing by the baby, tilt the bottle, let the nipple be full of milk and air passed to the bottom of the bottle.
Observe your baby while bottle feeding for signs to identify if the nipple hole is suitable for him.
Generally babies prefer slightly warm milk, rum the bottle under warm water for few minutes and pour 2-3 drops on your finger to check the right temperature of the milk.
